Annals of the American Association of Geographers

AAG’s flagship journal has been published since 1911. It is ranked 18th out of 86 geography journals worldwide with an impact factor of 3.9. There are 10 issues every year, one of which is a themed Special Issue. The journal features major research articles that make an important contribution to geographic knowledge.

The Professional Geographer Cover Flat

The Professional Geographer

Originally a publication of the American Society for Professional Geographers, it became a journal of the AAG in 1949 when the two organizations merged. It currently has an Impact Factor of 1.8, ranking 58th out of 86 geography journals worldwide. There are six issues per year and the focus is on short articles of academic or applied geography, emphasizing empirical studies and methodologies.

Geography Podcast Channel

AAG collaborates with the New Books Network (NBN), a consortium of author-interview podcast channels covering a range of scholarly topics, to sponsor the platform’s Geography channel. The network showcases the wide array of new publications across geography. Know of a recent title? NBN is a crowdsourced entity, and the content is supplied by hosts — and anyone can be a host. Hosts select their book and receive a $25 stipend per interview. Happy listening (and hosting)!
