The Energy and Environment Specialty Group (EESG) of the American Association of Geographers (AAG) is pleased to announce the 5th Annual Energy Geographies Conference, to be held virtually.

This half-day event is focused on energy geography research, practice, and pedagogy. It will include an opening keynote talk, thematically organized paper presentations, and a panel discussion about doing public-facing, praxis-oriented critical energy scholarship. We welcome abstract submissions on any topic or theme within energy geography. This year, given its current salience, we especially encourage submissions and discussions related to geopolitics of energy.

This year’s keynote will be delivered by Emily Grubert, Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy Policy in the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame.

This conference welcomes everyone, regardless of career stage, from graduate students to seasoned energy geographers, broadly defined. Building on the success of previous conferences, we intend for this to be a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly space where we can meet, engage, share ideas, collaborate, and strengthen our community. In light of the intended interactive nature of this conference, it is a professional expectation for participants to engage throughout the event. Presenters are required to submit their presentation materials in advance of the conference.

We invite you to register and participate. We hope you can join us!
