Strategies for Applying to Ph.D. Programs

Successful PhD applicants need good mentoring, good networking, good research presence, and of course good research ideas. The seminar will outline ways for participants to put their best foot forward and describe what strategies have been most successful for getting RA or TA funding.

Nathan MooreNathan Moore, Michigan State University

Dr. Nathan Moore works at the intersection of land use, climate, and agriculture. Motivated by his work in the Peace Corps, he has explored the impacts of irrigation on rainfall, the influence of agricultural expansion on east African climate, and the effects of deforestation on Amazon rainfall patterns. He has served as Graduate Program Director for four years.

This seminar is open to graduate students who are interested to learn about: (1) Research experience in multiple forms which helps you stand out; (2) Network in person, via Zoom, and via your web presence; (3) Good fit and good prospective topics which are the primary objective. We can welcome up to 300 members to participate in this seminar.
