Big Data and CyberGIS/AI of the Past, Present, and Future of GIScience

The AAG Geographic Information Science and Systems Specialty Group welcomes you to the third webinar on Ecology and Climate of the Past, Present, and Future of GIScience series. This webinar will provide a platform for the panelists to discuss the past, present and future of GIScience from the conceptual and applications perspective in the health and wellness domain.

Panelists:
  • Katheleen Stewart is a professor in the Department of Geographical Sciences and Director of the Center for Geospatial Information Science at University of Maryland – College Park. Her research is in GIScience with a particular focus on geospatial dynamics, mobility and spatial access in the application domains of health and transportation.
  • Sean Young is an assistant professor at UTSouthewestern Medical Center. His research focuses on human-environment interactions (broadly defined) as they relate to public health. His research attempts to identify the spatiotemporal patterns and trends created by these interactions.
  • Amber Pearson is an associate professor at Michigan State University. As a health geographer, her research focuses on social justice and understanding the unexpected tenacity, adaptability and resilience of the underprivileged using geospatial and epidemiologic methods and critical development thinking.
