Best Paper Awards in Geography & Entrepreneurship
Deadline to submit: November 5, 2023
Thanks to a sponsorship from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the AAG is pleased to announce two annual awards for promising research studying geography and entrepreneurship: one for best paper and one for best student paper.
The purpose of this award program is to identify innovative research in business, applied or community geography that is relevant to questions related to entrepreneurs and their firms as well as to practitioners and policymakers. Research that has direct practical implications and that addresses pressing environmental, economic and/or social problems is especially appropriate for these awards. The awards will be presented at the AAG Annual Meeting.
Prizes
Two awardees will receive a check for $1,500, complimentary meeting registration, and a complimentary ticket to the AAG Awards Luncheon. The runner up for each award will receive complimentary registration and a complimentary ticket to the AAG Awards Luncheon. Award winners and runners up will be invited to present their research in a session highlighting geography and entrepreneurship.
Eligibility Criteria & Submission Process
- The best paper will be selected based on importance of the topic to the study of geography and entrepreneurship, contribution to the existing literature, and relevance to the practice.
- Original papers are encouraged but published work can be submitted.
- One entry per primary author is permitted.
- Applicants worldwide are welcome to apply, but all materials must be submitted in English.
- Journal-ready submissions following the Chicago Manual of Style
- As with all other AAG awards, eligibility also rests on the candidate being in compliance with the AAG Professional Conduct Policy. Nominations may be rescinded, and the award may also be revoked for any candidate or awardee who is found in violation of the AAG’s Professional Conduct Policy.
The application form requires you to upload your paper before being able to complete the process. You cannot save a partially completed form and return to it later, so it is important to have all materials ready before filling out the form. For questions or difficulties, please contact grantsawards@aag.org or call the AAG at 202-234-1450.
