DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Mentor: Bienvenido Santana Ferraras

Objective: The highly contaminated Haina River basin is one of the main industrial conglomerations of the country, home to more than 100 industries such as powerplants, refineries, factories, as well as human generated solid and liquid wastes.  Acuatic organisms and the dynamics of their diversity can serve as indicators of the health of the river, and the healthfulness of the river for human consumption.  This project aims to identify and map this diversity.
