Establishing a Comprehensive Geographic Information System PANAMA Emilio Espino Mentor: Michael Shiven Roy Objective: This project is designed to provide natural resource maps of this hyperbiodiverse region and important watershed (Mamoni, E. Panama). They intend to use these resource maps to monitor change to identify cause and effect relationships to non-sustainable use over space and time. Furthermore our project will develop innovative remote sensing technology using wireless sensors placed within forest and non forest environments to measure and monitor biometric and non biometric parameters. All this information will be put towards promoting better management of tropical forests and water shed resources in humid tropical regions at a level of complexity and detail that most projects are unable to match.
