Spatial Modeling of Urban Transportation for Ramiro González
Geographic focus: Panama / Panama City Date completed: 2006 In recent decades, GIS has assumed an important role in the study of transportation systems, in part because of better geospatial representation of land, but also owing to advances in techniques for managing data. Ramiro González, a student at the Technology University of Panama, used GIS to map population distribution by income level, locations of automobile owners, and transportation infrastructure. Ramiro proposed to carry out further studies, using GIS to analyze the effects of population growth and distribution on the Panama City transportation infrastructure.
