Geospatial technologies have made a great deal of environmental information available to decision makers who depend upon accurate data on land use/land cover to carry out their work. Daniil Orlove, a Russian geography student, created a land cover map of Samarskaya Luka, Russia, using satellite images and GIS software. He proposed that schools develop curriculums which apply geographic technologies to resolving environmental issues.
