Verity H. Male

Geographic focus: Australia / Victoria

Date completed: 2003

Alpine ecosystems are fragile and present a unique challenge to developers who wish create communities within them without damaging the local environment. Verity Male, a student in Victoria, Australia, assessed development of Dinner Plain, a township located in Australia’s alpine region. Verity used GIS to map land use, geological features, and topography. Analysis of these maps suggests that Dinner Plain is a successful development in the alpine region.
