Honoring a Commitment to Sustainable Development: Jennifer Almquist
Geographic focus: USA / Deadwood, Oregon Date completed: 2002 Community members are connected to their environmental resources in ways that bureaucracies are not, and in some theoretical approaches, women are connected to these resources in unique ways. Jennifer Almquist, a student at Oregon State University, conducted extensive interviews, evaluated community activities, and reviewed resource management documents to create a stewardship pilot model for Deadwood, Oregon, that recognizes the role of women in community resource development.
