Youth Programs

The My Community, Our Earth Partnership would like to thank all of the students who participated in this year's student competition. We received an excellent set of posters and projects. A panel of experts from the USDA, ESRI, AAG, USGS, NOAA, National Geographic Society, the World Bank, and Trimble assessed and reviewed all the of the submissions and named 22 finalists.

Highest Overall Score ; Secondary School High Score
“Bull Bay: A Town Ravaged by Nature ”


Primary / Middle School High Score:
“Transportation in Jamaica and the Jamaican Urban Transportation Corporation.”


College/University High Score:
Air Quality and Environmental Justice: An Analysis of Air Pollution and Wealth Distribution.”


Top scoring projects received recognition and prizes, including a GPS unit from Trimble, GIS Software and training from ESRI, mini-digital cameras, and more. All participants received a set of geographic educational materials and certificates.

Finalists were showcased at the EPA's P3 Student Design Competition for Sustainability on May 16th & 17th at the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Even though the competition is officially over, you are encouraged to use the MyCOE resources to conduct your own sustainable development project in your local community.
