4–H & Youth Program Goals

4–H Program

MyCOE encourages you to make a difference in your own community! Create sustainable development solutions using the tools and concepts of geography. Youth from middle school, secondary school, or university levels are invited to work as individuals or teams to

  • CREATE a project about a sustainable development theme in your local area
  • LEARN MORE about special focus issues of Water, Sanitation, or Human Settlement
  • MAP information, analyze problems, and design solutions for your community
  • SUBMIT your work: NEXT DEADLINE is May 3, 2004
  • EARN RECOGNITION at the 4-H technology conference and other national and international exhibits

Whether digital tools, such as GIS software, or more traditional manual methods, such as hand–drawn maps and charts, are used to complete the project, youth around the world can participate in this geographic learning experience.

ESRI GIS Program for US 4-H: Special Grant ESRI, in collaboration with the national 4-H community, has launched a new program to help support the use of GIS by U.S. 4-H clubs and youth. The initiative includes a grant program. The application deadline is March 31, 2004. The GIS tools and support materials in this grant are helpful for MyCOE community research projects.
