                         Development Geographies Specialty Group

The purpose of the Development Geographies Specialty Group (DGSG) is to provide a forum for research, education, and practice related to development studies and to developing areas. The specialty group was formally established in 2003 and became active by co-hosting an AAG pre-conference meeting in Boulder (in conjunction with the Political Geography Specialty Group). The specialty group co-organized a second meeting in Berkeley in 2007 and a third at Clark University in 2008. A fourth pre-conference is planned for the 2010 AAG meeting. DGSG is a very active specialty group with nearly a dozen representatives in leadership roles. Dr. Edward Carr at the University of South Carolina is the current chair and welcomes questions or feedback at any time (carr@sc.edu). More information about DGSG and the conference can be found at our website at: http://developingareas.blogspot.com/
