How to present your project

In addition to the submission form, your project must have the following elements:

At least one original map as a centerpiece

    • Maps may be digital (e.g., GIS maps) or hand drawn but must be legible.  Remember, this map may be displayed on the MyCOE Web site and/or presented at international meetings.

    • You may submit more than one map, but you must include at least one map.

A two– to three–page written description of your project, including:

    • Background on the geography of the area being studied

    • A summary of your work

    • If you used a mentor, please note the name of your mentor or mentors in your submission.

A list of proposed actions or solutions for your community.

A statement that describes the impact your project might have.  Your statement should answer the following questions:

    • How would you like your MyCOE project to make a difference in your community?

    • Have you shared the results of your MyCOE project locally such as with the newspaper, city government, or community leaders? If so, how?

    • Have you already seen any effect on your community as a result of your MyCOE project? If so, please describe.

    • How has your MyCOE project affected you personally?

    • Please be sure to include the name, address, telephone number, and/or e–mail address of each participant.

In addition, you may want to include other elements appropriate to your project. These elements are optional, and may include

    • Supplemental essay or text

    • Photographs

    • Field observations
