Geographic focus: Honduras / San Juan River Watershed
Date completed: 2006
Cartography has great relevance for decision makers and others who need detailed, accurate, and timely environmental information to carry out their work. Medardo Balmore Lemus Valle and Tobo Benny Bodden Cooper, two students from the National Autonomous University of Honduras, used GIS to create a series of maps of the San Juan River watershed in Honduras, which together served as a cartographic base for the region. They recommended that the watershed be monitored through collection of geo-referenced data, and that these data be analyzed using cartographic software.
