To be successful, conservation strategies must be designed with the best and most comprehensive information available, and in this regard, GIS presents planners with a valuable tool. Emel Baylan, a student from Turkey, used mapping software to create a data base to be used to create a wetland management plan. He recommended the other such plants take into account changing conditions, and that they be accessible to local residents.
