These adventures were developed to provide a set of fun, entertaining, and inspirational online learning and outreach tools to encourage youth around the world to enhance their geographic understanding for sustainable development.

The step-by-step structure of the adventure draws from the My Community, Our Earth program model which is mirrors standard scientific method according to a five-step process.

The five topics for the adventures reflect the United Nations WEHAB Framework set at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, 2002, where the MyCOE program debuted youth projects from around the world:
