| In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the AAG established the AAG Katrina Fund to help the geographers and geography departments affected by the storm. The AAG also set up an online interactive clearinghouse as a way to prominently post requests for assistance and offers of support. Now we are shifting our focus from emergency response to the long term recovery and rebuilding process that is taking place at the departments most affected by the storm. Damaged materials such as computers, books, maps, and electronic materials are just some of the items that must be replaced during this vital rebuilding phase. Please click on the name of a geography department below to view that department¡¯s list of items most pressingly needed at this time. The lists have been provided to us by geography departments in the affected Gulf Coast areas. If you can assist in filling any of these needs, please contact the departments as directed below. As departments continue to dig out and identify other needs, we will make additional postings on this site. Please check back regularly. Any general inquiries can be directed to John Wertman (jwertman@aag.org) at the AAG Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Departmental Requests for Assistance: |
