Food Security combines fundamentals of population, natural resources, and water resources to examine the growth, decline, and movement of human populations over time and space, and how this affects the availability of resources such as food and water in different natural and political environments and management schemes.  Hazards are threats or risks of naturally occurring events that have potentially negative impacts on people or their environment, including floods, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, or other hazards. Hazards can incite famine or other disasters for communities, causing problems related to securing drinking water and food; urbanization, sustainable development, political economy,wicked problems”, drought, famine, hazards, risk, disasters, and watershed.

Leadership is approached with sensitivity to the varied ways in which leadership itself is viewed in different countries, particularly in developing regions. Three fundamental principles of leadership underlie explicit and implicit integration of this topic: Leaders make decisions, and effective decision-making is based on information and knowledge; Leaders take responsibility, they take action; and Leaders build relationships and mobilize communities.
