PORTLAND, OREGON: Graduate Research Assistant Opportunity at Portland State University

The Department of Geography at Portland State University (PSU) (www.pdx.edu/geography/) is recruiting a PhD student to investigate the effects of extreme weather on urban flooding and city infrastructure management in major US cities. The qualified student will have an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and city practitioners across different universities and cities who participate in a collaborative research on Urban Extremes Sustainability Research Network sustainability.asu.edu/urbanresilience/. The position comes with a monthly stipend and full tuition remissions.  

A background in hydroclimatology and experience in hydrologic modeling and GIS programing are preferred, although students can learn these knowledge and skills while enrolled in a PhD program in Earth, Environment and Society through the School of the Environment at PSU (www.pdx.edu/environment/). Interested students are encouraged to contact Heejun Chang at changh@pdx.edu with a statement of interest and resume that includes GPA and GRE scores and apply at www.pdx.edu/graduate-admissions by January 15, 2017.
