AAG Welcomes Daniel Phillips as Assistant Researcher

Daniel Phillips has joined the AAG staff as assistant researcher. He recently received his B.A. in geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His interests include demography, the geography of politics, cognitive geography, history, and the study of religions. Among many responsibilities he will be take on at the AAG, Daniel will work on map-related projects to acquire professional experience before attending graduate school. Over the longterm, he hopes to follow a career path that will allow him to improve the political process through geographic research or as an educator.
As an intern at the AAG last fall, Daniel worked on mapping projects in support of the ALIGNED initiative to enhance diversity in university geography departments, and also assisted with preparations for workshops at the 2013 AAG Annual Meeting in Los Angeles.
