Spotlight profile: Emma Arnold, Founder, Institute for Art and Environment

July 01, 2013

In 2009, environmental studies graduate Emma Arnold founded the Institute for Art and Environment, a Montreal-based think-tank with a mission to bridge the "art/science divide" within the environmental sector. In an interview published on the PartyMixTape blog, Emma describes her field research on urban graffiti and street art and her plans to pursue her PhD at the University of Oslo. "To be a street artist, you really need to understand and appreciate the city and urban space," she observes. "Graffiti and street artists are great geographers."
