The American Publishers Association has honored the Atlas of Yellowstone with one of it's top five awards: the PROSE Award for Excellence in Physical Sciences and Mathematics.

Nominations were solicited from the 300+ member publishers. There were 518 nominations from 71 publishers this year. The atlas won in one of the 45 categories (Easth Sciences) for books, e-journals, and journals. The 45 winners in these categories are then lumped into five cateogries.

The Atlas of Yellowstone project received a lot of support from geographers and other scholars around the country. The book, by W. Andrew Marcus, James E. Meacham, Ann W. Rodman, and Alethea Y. Steingisser, was published by the University of California Press. For more information, visit the University of Oregon website.
