William Woods Receives Honorary Doctorate from Uppsala Universitet

William I. Woods, professor of geography at the University of Kansas, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Historical-Philosophical faculty at Uppsala Universitet, Sweden. His research focused on terra preta, a fertile soil from the Amazon basin formed from prehistoric Indian cultures' use of the land. For more information, visit the Uppsala Universitet website.
