Spotlight profile: J. Marshall Shepherd, University of Georgia

Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd is Professor and Director of the UGA Atmospheric Sciences Program at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Dr. Shepherd was recently elected President of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), and currently serves on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Science Advisory Board. He was the first African American to receive a PhD from the Florida State University Department of Meteorology, one of the nation's oldest and most respected programs. Dr. Shepherd makes frequent appearances on TV and radio as an expert on climate, weather, and remote sensing.
