Rural Settlement Analysis - Case Study of Emiralem
Ali Kemal Cinar
Geographic focus: Turkey / Emiralem
Date completed: 2002
In the 1997 census, the population of the Turkish town Emiralem ‘doubled,’ when a nearby rural settlement was included in the town’s administrative boundary. In order to determine whether a new development plan was in fact warranted by the supposed rise in population, Ali Kemal Cinar, a local student, created maps and graphs to track changes in demographics in the region. Ali then prepared a development strategy for Emiralem.
