Neighborhoods must be organized with care if they are to urbanize smoothly. Sourjya Mukherjee, a student from Calcutta, India, created a land use map of her neighborhood and described threats to standards of living there (garbage in the streets, flooding due to drains being clogged, open drains that breed mosquitoes, lack of a library or clean playground, etc). Sourjya proposed several solutions to these problems, including stricter enforcement of laws, public awareness campaigns, and better cooperation among neighbors.
