Students from the Denham Town Primary School
Geographic focus: Jamaica / Kingston
Date completed: 2005
Public transportation in Kingston, Jamaica, has struggled to keep pace with the demands of a growing and increasingly mobile population. Students from the Denham Town Primary School carried out traffic counts, conducted interviews with officials, and surveyed taxi drivers and bus riders to understand the problems and needs of local commuters. Recommendations from their study included improvements in public safety to encourage use of public transportation and to deter illegal and dangerous modes of travel.
