Habitats at Camp
Peggy L. Preusch
Geographic focus: USA / Maryland
Date completed: 2002
Exposure to nature at an early age often instills a sense of responsibility for the natural environment. Peggy Preusch, an educator in Maryland, USA, designed a summer camp program for 4-H students. Activities include a mapping survey, and hands-on exercises to teach about biodiversity ad soils. GPS units and GIS will be used to show how data are used in analysis. The camp will reinforce concepts of sustainability and long-term use of natural resources.
