GIS provides an array of tools for regional development planners. Nevra Kýrbaþoðlu, a student at the Private Sevgi College in Ankara, used maps of commodity and food production to create ‘development indexes’ for counties in the Anatolian region of Turkey. She recommended that these indexes be used to direct investments to counties where they would be of greatest value.
