You may choose any topic for your MyCOE project that deals with sustainable development. Sustainable Development topics are quite broad, and you may find that they overlap in interesting ways. To make your project manageable, you will need to narrow your focus further. Here are some ideas for inspiration:
- Read a local newspaper and ask yourself, “How does what goes on in your own community relate to what is going on in the world broadly?”
- Listen to the world news and ask yourself, “How does what is happening there affect me and my community and its future?”
- Browse through some of the youth-led projects that others have conducted in our gallery
- Thumb through our directory of recommended resources
- Explore the themes chapters from our MyCOE Student Project Guide
- Search your theme using Google Earth, using keywords like earthquakes, climate change or urbanization
Examine something about where you live and think about how it relates to sustainable development. Ask yourself questions about it, and choose one that truly interests you to investigate in your project. A good question is the heart of every new discovery!
