Interdisciplinary and Strategic Initiatives

The AAG is proud to be a part of many collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives aimed at broadening the application of geographic research. In this section, you will learn more about some of our major partnerships and strategic initiatives.

AAG-NIH Health Initiatives - The AAG has been working closely with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for nearly a decade on the integration of geography and GIScience in medical and health research. The role of geography and GIScience in helping to understand complex health-environment interactions is a research area of great need and potential.

Geography and Climate Change - The AAG has a number of ongoing projects and programs relating to geography and climate change. Explore the links on this page to learn more about these activities and resources and how you might participate.

Geography and Human Rights - The Geography and Human Rights Clearinghouse promotes the application of geographic research to human rights issues by encouraging the exchange of scholarship, information, and ideas. Read more about this and some of our other human rights resources such as a bibliography of relevant publications, a public forum, educational materials, and more.
