The AAG is involved in a broad-range of GIS&T-related projects and initiatives. In this section you will find information on some of our current projects, as well as a variety of GIS&T resources that may be useful to anyone interested in learning more about the field.
GeoMentors Program - The AAG-Esri ConnectED GeoMentors Program is working to enhance GIS and geographic learning in US K-12 schools through the introduction of ArcGIS Online into classrooms across the country. Everyone from the broad GIS community is welcome, across all disciplines and sectors, to consider volunteering to help build a nationwide network of GeoMentors to assist schools and teachers with their educational goals using GIS. However, previous experience with ArcGIS Online is not required. Many training resources are available to help GeoMentors create connections with K-12 classrooms.
Biennial GIScience Conference - Since 2000, this conference has regularly brought together more than 200 international participants from academia, industry, and government organizations to discuss the latest developments in Geographic Information Science.
GIS Procurement - The case of MAPPS v. United States, ruled in favor of the government, could have had dramatic consequences for the entire mapping community, including the GIS industry. For more information about the case, explore the documents on this page.
GIScience Research - Research combining a variety of intensive geographically-referenced data streams is spreading across many scientific domains, ranging from environmental science to transportation to epidemiology.
Historical GIS Clearinghouse - The Historical GIS Clearinghouse and Forum provides a central reference point for scholars seeking to access or catalogue projects that apply geographic technologies to historical research. Visitors are encouraged to explore - and contribute to - the resources on these pages.
Real-Time Interactive (RTI)-GPS/GIS - This page features an archive of journal articles, press releases, and other media exploring the topic of real-time interactive (RTI) GPS/GIS technology.
