Grade level of students you or your educator collaborator work/worked with: It is a magnet High School focused on providing an education in Information Technology. All students must maintain a B average or better to remain enrolled.

Subject/topic of class/group you assisted your collaborator with: Geographic Information Systems. This year I focused on how GIS is used to study history.

Approximately how many students were engaged in GIS activities through this collaboration: 4 classes with approximately 18 students in each class.

How did you connect with your collaborator? As a board member of the Central Florida GIS Workshop, the board members and I have made a commitment to support the school. Each year we support them by paying for their ESRI software license and teaching at their annual "Teach In Day" event.

Describe your collaboration process. A CFGIS Workshop board member manages most of the communication.

Describe the tasks you assisted your collaborator with. Primarily support through providing software and providing volunteer teachers for their "Teach In Day"

What available resources, if any, did you use or help your collaborator use to implement GIS in K-12 education? ESRI ArcGIS software licenses. We also helped them set up ArcGIS Online accounts for the school.

What did you gain from the experience? What do you think your educator collaborator and/or the students gained? It is my hope that they gained an introductory knowledge of GIS and many of its uses. By providing GIS software we also provide the opportunity to learn more about GIS through self study.
