Hazus Symposium Focuses on Modeling Economic Loss From Natural Disasters

When: August 5-7, 2013

The Central Hazus User Group will host the 6th Annual Hazus Symposium in Indianapolis, Ind. This event occurs only once per year and registration is free.

Hazus-MH (Multi-Hazard), a GIS application created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been a crucial tool used in planning for the economic loss associated with floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes. It combines science, engineering, and mathematical modeling with GIS technology to estimate losses of life and property—and shows those losses on a map.

The symposium is geared toward floodplain managers, hazard mitigation planners, and GIS and natural disaster professionals.

Registration is free. For more details, visit http://hazusconference2013.eventbrite.com/#.
