The AAG's Enhancing Departments and Graduate Education (EDGE) in Geography project will sponsor two sessions on careers and professional development at the 2013 joint meeting of the Applied Geography Conference and the Middle Atlantic Division of the AAG.
A panel discussion featuring geographers working in the business, government, nonprofit, and academic sectors will continue our successful "Beyond the Ivory Tower" series of sessions about career opportunities. A free workshop, "Preparing Students for the 21st-Century Workforce," will introduce instructors, advisers, and students to a series of activities designed to raise students' awareness of employment prospects and to help them articulate the value of their geography training to potential employers.
Both sessions have been tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, November 1. Additional details about the panel and workshop, including dates, times, and locations, are available in the conference program, available online at: http://applied.geog.kent.edu/.
