Race and Ethnicity in Geography

The following data and report gives a picture of the racial and ethnic balance in geography among AAG members, at K-12 level (teachers and students), in higher education (faculty and students), and in the workplace. The most current statistics are set alongside longitudinal data which reveal changes over time, and comparative data to place trends in geography within a broader context.

The primary data sources were: AAG annual membership data, AAG supplemental surveys, National Center for Education Statistics, and The College Board. The AAG's data is made available in an Excel spreadsheet.
