All Meeting Attendees to Receive Geography and Technology Book

Geography and Technology: A Centennial Publication

As part of the AAG’s centennial celebration, all those registering for the 2004 Philadelphia meeting will receive a complimentary copy of Geography and Technology, edited by Stanley D. Brunn (University of Kentucky), Susan L. Cutter (University of South Carolina), and J. W. Harrington, Jr. (University of Washington). The book, a collection of twenty-five original chapters by junior and senior geographers, addresses how various advances in technology have affected geography as a discipline, and how these technologies have impacted the production, consumption, and dissemination of geographical information.

The book is divided into five sections, entitled Geography and Technology Interfaces, Technologies that Changed Geography, New Geographies with New Technologies, The Environment and Technology, and The Worlds Before Us.

The volume could be used in classes where specific technologies are investigated as well as in advanced disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses and seminars where society and technology linkages are addressed. The book could also be used for those investigating social and policy issues, planning and development, and by those with interests in disciplinary and intellectual histories.
