2010 AAG ANNUAL MEETING
April 14-18, 2010 – Washington, DC

Conference Volunteers

Eligibility

Donate some time during the conference as a volunteer. Student members and unemployed geographers* who are AAG members are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to help offset their meeting registration costs. All applicants must be registered and paid for the meeting to be chosen as a conference volunteer. Conference volunteers will receive $14.50 per hour in return for their time.

Download the Conference Volunteer Application
Deadline: February 8, 2010

The volunteer program is only open to members of AAG. Not yet a member? Visit www.aag.org/members/member.html for membership rates and information.

*Unemployed geographers must also submit a brief letter with their application certifying unemployment and financial need in order for AAG to grant a position. Several conference volunteer positions have been reserved for unemployed geographers and are available on a first-come first-served basis.

Shift Assignments

The AAG conference volunteer program is very popular. We receive many more applications than available shifts. Applications will be accepted through the February 8, 2010, deadline, but unfortunately not everyone who applies will receive a shift. Once the schedule is fully staffed, names will be added to the conference volunteer wait list. We will notify potential volunteers by email regarding their status, so please check your spam filter settings.

You can increase your odds of being selected by:

  1. Submitting your application early
  2. Selecting multiple days and times you are available for shifts

Reimbursement

Conference volunteers will receive reimbursement 6-8 weeks after the meeting. Volunteers who pay for registration by credit card will receive their reimbursement directly to the credit card used to pay for their registration. All other volunteers will receive a check in US funds from AAG. AAG is only able to remit funds in US currency.
