Jobs in Geography Center

The AAG will feature extensive information on careers in geography, professional development, and employment opportunities during the 2008 AAG Annual Meeting in Boston. This year’s program includes sessions, workshops, and events organized through the AAG project for Enhancing Departments and Graduate Education and the Jobs in Geography Center.

Jobs in Geography Center

This year’s JIG Center will be larger and offers extended operating hours to better serve job-seekers. Other highlights include:

  • Large exhibit of available jobs with opportunities to meet with employers.

  • Options to submit a resume to the 2008 AAG Resume Bank. (User ID and meeting registration required.) Resumes will be reviewed by prospective employers attending the meeting.

  • Discussions with successful geographers to learn about their experiences, professions, and career paths.

  • Many career and professional development sessions and presentations.

EDGE Sessions and Workshops

Graduate students and early career faculty are encouraged to attend workshops based on two books produced by the AAG EDGE project, Aspiring Academics and Teaching College Geography. Workshop participants will receive a complimentary copy of one of the books.

EDGE-sponsored sessions include Strategies for Student Recruitment, Supporting Women in Geography, Career Planning for Graduate Students, and many more.  A full list of the workshops and sessions, including descriptions, is available at www.aag.org/edge.
