AAG Projects for Improving Education, Professional Development, and Outreach in Geography

As geography’s largest professional organization, the AAG has a long history of administering federal and private grants for projects designed to enhance the quality of geography education and the professional development of geographers. We currently offer award-winning curriculum materials for secondary schools and undergraduate education, online course modules for international collaborative learning, and tools for student projects in sustainable development. The AAG is also directing research projects in graduate education, spatial cognition, workforce development, and international education. We work collaboratively with other geography and professional organizations to monitor education policy, support interdisciplinary research on educational topics, and raise awareness of career opportunities in geography. AAG specialty groups, task forces, and committees oversee a wide variety of award and outreach programs for students, department chairpersons, community colleges, and early-career faculty.
