HOME RESEARCH MATERIALS BECOMING A REVIEWER CALENDAR PARTNERS LINKS EDGE TEAM

The following organizations are directly involved in the planning and design of the EDGE research:

North Western University. Dr. Rachelle Brooks of Northwestern University has developed an evaluation plan for the EDGE project.. The mixed-method, longitudinal evaluation is designed to assess the impact of the project in three areas: (1) to develop a diverse, internationally competitive and globally engaged workforce of geographers, (2) to enable discoveries in geography and beyond related to learning at the graduate level, and (3) to produce state-of-the-art information base/research/education materials for geography departments as well as materials of value to other disciplines.
Center for Innovation and Research in Graduate Education (CIRGE). CIRGE is conducting a survey of social science PhDs who earned their degrees between July 1, 1995 and June 30, 1999. The survey focuses on job search, work/life choices and dilemmas, and doctoral program evaluation. Information from the survey will complement EDGE research on career development and program climate.
Professional and Organizational Development Network (POD) in Higher Education. POD specialists will participate in the development of EDGE materials and provide additional evaluation services for the project.

Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL).  Under the CASTL Leadership program, the AAG will collaborate with Carnegie and several institutions on efforts to develop and disseminate resources for improving the pedagogical knowledge and training of graduate students.  Further information is available at http://www.aag.org/Education/aag/AAG%20CASTL%20page.cfm

The AAG, through the EDGE project, is also establishing connections and working relationships with international organizations dedicated to the improvement of graduate education, faculty development, and the teaching and learning of geography in higher education.  Examples include:

In the coming years, the AAG will constructively engage other professional and scholarly organizations in the work of EDGE.
